Tips for a vacation in Austria, with kids
For years we wanted to go on vacation to austria. The Plans Were Ready, But The Bad Weather Forecast Held Us Back Every Time. This year we decided to go, at any cost.
WHETER We Liked It? And we had a bit of weather?
Finally Getting to Austria
For Years We had The Plans Ready, The Maps Bought, The Walks Selected and The Campsites Picked Out. However Every Year The Weather Held Us Back. When we looked at the weather app before vacation, the forecast was so bad that every year we decided, at the last minute, to go to another country.
Finally, we Didn't Feel Like Three Weeks of Rain. Yet every time I heard from Others that they had a great time in Austria. For this reason we decided to just go this year, no matter what the weather app would say.
Going on vacation
As a child i visited austria many times, we hiked in the mountains for 4-5 days. Even though my husband has been in the mountains a lot and is a climber like me, he has never leg on vacation to austria. After all that preparation the past few years, he knew what he wanted to see in austria and so we picked two places we wanted to go to to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to to to to to go to go to.
That prescription
The First Place We Went For A Week Was The Dachstein Mountains. For year we have leg watching ‘ that rediter ‘ On ZDF on Saturday Evening. A Real Soap Series About Mountain Rescue Services, Helicopter Pilots and Nurses.
You don't have to look for the story, but the place where it was shot is so beautiful. The Bergrettungs Building is in Ramsau and All The Images We see in the series Were Shot At The Dachstein Massif.
Camping in Schladming
The First Campsite in Austria Where We Ended Up was in Schladming, A Few Kilometers From This Place Ramsau. A Pricey Campsite, But You Did Get A Sommercard, which Gave You Lots Of Discounts And Things For Nothing. So we were allowed free entry into the (indoor) swimming pool, mini golf and the cable car to the dachstein glacier.
On Day Two It Started to Rain In The Afternoon And It Lasted QUITE A While, We looked at Each Other and Thought ‘ It is not to be hoped that this will last for three weeks.’ We decided to go to salzburg the next day.
Half Way Through the Day It Got Dry And Then We had Three Weeks of Nice Weather. With occasional showers in the Evening and Night.
The Dachstein Massif in Austria
With the cable car we get used to the dachstein glacier. With the Sommercard we got at the campsite, we could take the cable car for free. The Disadvantage was that you could only stay upstairs for three hours.
If you paid for a ticket, it was € 39.00 per person.
We decided to keep those Three Hours anyway and in retrospect this was enough. We were lucky that we could go straight away. I only found out here that it was actual wise to reserve your spot in advance.
We took a Beautiful Hike at the Top of the Glacier in the Abundance of Snow.
The Adventure Path, Especally for Children
In Many Different Places in Austria there is a lot to do for children, so we hiked the wild water trail, where you walked along a beautiful waterfall, but via stairs and suspension bridges. We followed the adventure trail. These trails may be eSpecany for children, but also incredible fun for adults to walk.
Children Learn All About Nature, Can Do Experiments And Meanwhile You Walk Through The Beautiful Nature That Austria Has To Offer.
Trip down memory lane in Lienz
And then we get used to the second campsite. About Thirty Years ago I was in Lienz. Since the Husband had some wishes of what he wanted to see in austria and lienz was very central for this, we decided to find a campsite here. We ended up at a great campsite with a swimming pool in Amlach, just outside lienz.
Here we hiked and climbed a lot.
Because of my knee problems, the hikes were not too much, but all in all we had some wonderful tours.
Hiking in The Mountains
We have hiked many Mountains in Different Countries, but I was very positive about austria. The Advantage and eSpecany When I look at Hiking with Children, Were the Trails. These were Easily Accessible, Practical Never Went about Asphalt and Were Very Well Marked. At Almost Every Hour/An Hour and a Half there was a hut, Where you could Possibly Eat and Drink Something and Bears a lot of hiking there are also an awful lot or cable cars to take take.
I Found the Country Very Sweet, With All its Beautiful Houses and Lots of Greenery.
We Made Beautiful Hikes At The Gross Glockner, Lienzer Dolomites, Gross Venetiger and In Italy the Drei sentences.
