A la Plancha & Amigos is back this summer

Famous pop-up restaurant A La Plancha invites friends to a renewed concept! It opens its doors on Rotterdam’s Noordereiland this summer after a year’s “break. Keeping in mind the Corona rules.

Observance of catering rules

With more space on the wharves and several serving points for food and drinks, the setup and filling of the temporary restaurant will be slightly different. But this way the new hospitality rules can be observed.

The pop-up invites friends

This year the pop-up also invites its friends! Local colleagues who, due to COVID-19, do not have the space, knowledge or organization to also find a creative solution, are given the space to do so at A La Plancha. Visitors can buy a fish voucher now to support the restaurant so that they can soon enjoy the most beautiful location on the Meuse again.

More space at A La Plancha

A La Plancha was ready for it after a year ‘break’. The Rotterdam Maaskade underwent major renovations in 2019, so the pop-up restaurant could not open that year. Now the wharf has been brilliantly refurbished over a length of a few hundred meters.

This provides more opportunity to the left and right of the former bridgehead to place everyone at a safe distance from each other.

More serving points

However, that means you have to walk very far with all your dishes. Therefore this year more and smaller serving points will be made. The former bridgehead in the Maas is used for dinner.

And the left and right quay will be used for drinks or lunch. So you can experience the ultimate vacation feeling in your own city all day long.

Vamos Amigos

A La Plancha is also thinking of colleagues and ‘friends’ who are struggling during this time due to current measures. They are partnering with some of these local entrepreneurs and producers. Their products will also be available on the North Island. Besides culinary products, this also involves local cultural initiatives.

This is how visitors of A La Plancha & Amigos will be surprised by art, culture and music in addition to a delicious meal. All this right on the waterfront on Noordereiland: a beloved spot in Rotterdam.

Buy an A La Plancha fish voucher now

As soon as the weather permits, A La Plancha’s lively terrace and bustling kitchen opens. Due to COVID-19, it is necessary to reserve a time slot prior to your visit. Also, from now on visitors can buy a fish voucher to support the restaurant not only in the opening phase, but also so that everyone can come to the unique restaurant again soon.

Vouchers can be purchased through the site, the North Island shop or lunchroom Fadi’s.

About A La Plancha

Entrepreneurs and (former) islanders Hans Mosselman, Frank Mosselman and Willem de Klerk, started A La Plancha in 2011 out of love for the North Island. A la Plancha is not only about good food, enjoyment and experience. The entrepreneurs would like to contribute to shaping the community, and involve North Island residents in the restaurant.

This is how young and old, people with a distance to the labor market, or people who have a cross behind their name work at A La Plancha. This makes the team a motley mix of Rotterdammers of all shapes and sizes.

A number of entrepreneurs have already joined Lokaal voor Jou.
